Friction lock or auto lock
Friction-lock batons (Shadow Reach, Stealth Sentinel, Shadowline, Shadow Control) extend with a flick and hold by the friction of the telescoping sections; to close them you strike the tip on a hard surface. Auto-lock batons (Sentinel AutoLock) lock positively when extended and collapse with a button; they cost more and are the choice if you will open and close the baton often. Sizes in this category run 16 to 26 inches extended.
Billy clubs, saps and pens
The leather billy club and sap are traditional impact tools, bought here as collectibles and for the same reasons brass knuckles are; the billy club is the category best-seller by a wide margin.
