The best mini OTF knives for most buyers cost $11.99 to $15.99, list a blade of 2 inches or less and clip into a coin pocket. The one we would hand most people is the Shadowline Slide Compact ($11.99). It lists a 2-inch spear point in 440 stainless steel, a matte aluminum handle, a thumb slide and a pocket clip, and it has the lowest price among the top four. Skip it if you are buying a gift and want a pink or themed handle. The two Kawaii models at the top of the list are for that. Every mini here is double action.

How to choose a mini OTF knife
Blade length and what a mini can cut
BladeOps' OTF buyer's guide puts blades "under 3 inches" in the everyday-carry class. TEKTO's blade-length guide says a 1.85-inch OTF "opens every box, cuts every zip tie and strap," then adds: "What it will not do is reach into a deep box or break down a cardboard pile quickly." Knife Informer's mini OTF guide says the compact size "does severely limit the knife's usefulness for larger tasks." If you break down boxes all day, look at the 3-inch models among our OTF knives.
Double action only
Knife Depot describes single action as a one-way spring that pushes the blade out and has to be reset by hand. Double action uses one switch to extend and retract the blade. The owner's rule for this shop is plain: "Every OTF knife we sell is double action. We do not carry single-action OTF knives." Steel
HiConsumption says edge retention "primarily comes down to blade steel type." Five of the ten ranked minis name 440 stainless. The rest list stainless steel, steel, Ti-Ni or nothing at all. If steel decides it for you, read the blade material line on each record before you order.
Handle and grip
Knife Depot calls aluminum "the standard for OTF knives," and nine of the ten ranked picks list an aluminum handle. Small handles have a cost. Knife Informer says one tiny OTF grip "does make it harder to hold, especially for those with larger hands." Our records do not list grip dimensions. The nearest listed measure is closed length: 3.25 inches for eight of the ranked ten, and 3.5 inches for the Liberty Slide, Razor Rail and Shadow Grid. Look at the product photos before you order.

What is the smallest OTF knife you sell?
The Playful Strike Micro OTF Knife ($15.99) has the shortest listed closed length, at 3 inches (5 inches open, 2-inch blade). Many minis list a shorter 1.875-inch blade, and a few records give no closed length.
Can a mini OTF knife go on a keychain?
The ranked picks list a pocket clip. None of their records lists a keyring attachment. Carry one clipped in a coin pocket or a bag pocket, and check the product photos if keyring carry is the goal.
Do you sell single action mini OTF knives?
No. A single action fires the blade out with a spring and is reset by hand. We only carry double-action OTF knives, which open and close with one switch.
Is a cheap mini OTF knife worth buying?
