The best OTF knife under 50 dollars for most buyers is the Kawaii Quickdraw Front-Slide OTF Knife - Pink Aluminum ($36.99). It lists a 3-inch steel spear point blade, an aluminum handle, a slide control, a pocket clip and a weight of 2.75 ounces. It is second in 30-day spending among our OTF knives and costs $6 less than the knife in first place. Skip it if you want a plain black handle or a listed sheath, because its listing does not mention one. The Vector Surge ($39.99) lists a deluxe sheath, and the Shadowline Slide Pocket ($15.99) is the small black one.
Every OTF we sell is double action. All but 16 of the OTF knives in stock are listed under $50, and the full range is on our OTF knives page. If you are new to the format, OTF knives explained covers how the mechanism works.

How we ranked these
These are the ten in-stock OTF knives under $50 with the highest 30-day order dollar volume across the South Summit store network, listed highest first. In other words, this is what buyers chose with their own money in the last 30 days, and every knife was in stock on the day this was published. We did not run a hands-on test, and nothing here is sponsored. The specs come from each product record. When a spec is not listed, we leave it out.

9. Battle-Born Patriot Tactical OTF Knife - Olive Flag

This one has a rainbow etch finish on a 3-inch steel spear point, with an aluminum handle, a front switch and a deluxe sheath.
Longer blades and D2 steel under $50
None of the top ten is longer than 7.5 inches open. For a bigger knife, the Road Heritage Double-Action OTF Knife - Matte Black ($42.99) lists a 3.5-inch blade, 9 inches open, a rubber handle and a weight of 7.89 ounces. The Silent Vector Double-Action OTF Knife - Midnight Black ($34.99) lists a 4-inch blade at 9.75 inches.
Five OTF knives under $50 list D2 steel, and all five cost $47.99. They include the Blackout Vector ($47.99) spear point and the Night Vector ($47.99) tanto. Two more list 440C stainless at $39.99: the Green Flag Patriot and the Flagborne Patriot.
How to choose a double action OTF knife under $50
Start with size. Among the picks above, the three minis close to between 3.25 and 3.375 inches, and the 3-inch knives close at 4.375 or 4.5 inches. The minis are the pocket choice. The 3-inch knives have a longer blade and still list a clip.
Next, look at the steel. Knife Depot's 2026 OTF guide says "Budget options typically use 440C or 9Cr18MoV, serviceable for light use." TEKTO, a knife maker, says D2 holds an edge longer than 440C but is "not as rust-resistant as a true stainless such as 440C," and is slower to sharpen. Many of our listings say only "steel." If you care about the grade, buy one that names it.
Blade shape and handle come last:
- Four of the top ten are daggers. Knives Advice says "For carry, a single-edge drop point or tanto makes more sense" than a dagger.
- Four of the ten list aluminum handles. Knife Depot calls aluminum and titanium "the gold standard" for OTF handles.
Knife Depot describes double action as "a single slider or button both deploys and retracts the blade automatically." Every OTF here works that way. For cheap knives of other types, see best knives under $50. Rules for automatic knives differ by location, and you should check your state and city rules before ordering.
Questions buyers ask about OTF knives under $50
What is the cheapest OTF knife?
Seven OTF knives are listed at $11.99, our lowest OTF price. One is the Shadowline Slide Compact ($11.99), which lists a 2-inch 440 stainless spear point, a thumb slide and a clip.
Are double action OTF knives under $50 any good?
Knife Depot says budget OTFs typically use 440C or 9Cr18MoV, which it calls serviceable for light use. We have not tested these knives ourselves. The best we can offer is the listed specs, so check which steel each listing names.
What is the difference between single action and double action?
A single action fires the blade with the switch, and you reset it by hand. A double action deploys and retracts with the same control. Every OTF knife we sell is double action. We do not carry single action.
Why are some OTF knives so expensive?
We can only speak for our own shelf. Two of our OTFs above $50, the Aero Trigger Blackout OTF ($75.99) and the Aero-Track X-Switch ($78.99), list AUS-8 blades and aircraft alloy handles. None of our OTFs under $50 list either material.
How do I keep an OTF knife working?
Knife Depot says lint and debris collect in the blade channel and recommends a dry cloth or short bursts of compressed air, with no soaking in water. Knives Advice says "A drop of dry lubricant beats heavy oil, which collects grit."
