9. Shadow Talon Conceal-Carry Karambit Neck Knife - Black Polymer

Shadow Talon Conceal-Carry Karambit Neck Knife - Black Polymer

The most-ordered karambit neck knife, listed under fixed blades: 3.75-inch blade, polymer handle, about $10.

The curved karambit edge is a hooking and pulling cutter. It is a specialist shape; buy it for that job or for the design, not as a general slicer.

The handle is ABS plastic, which is how a full-size knife reaches this price. Plastic flexes, and flex is where misfires start, so keep the screws tight and treat it as a light-duty knife.

At 3.75-inch blade, 7.5 inches overall it sits in the mid-size class, which makes it the everyday-carry class: enough blade to cut, small enough to forget in a pocket.

How neck carry works

The sheath holds the knife by friction (Kydex or molded polymer), hung handle-down on a breakaway cord so the knife can be drawn with one hand and the cord cannot catch. Weight matters: the whole rig should be under 3 ounces or it swings. That is why these are small: 2 to 3.5 inch blades, 6 to 8 inches overall.

Straight blade or karambit

Straight-bladed neck knives (Covert Companion, Silent Sentinel, Shadow Talon Micro) are utility blades: package opening, cord, food at camp. Karambit neck knives (Nightfall Grip, Shadow Talon Karambit) have a curved hooking blade and a finger ring; they are bought for the design and for hooking cuts. For a first neck knife, straight blade.

Before you order

A neck knife is a concealed fixed blade under most rules, which is treated differently from a pocket folder in many states and cities. Check your local rules before carrying one; this page is not legal advice.
